Serie A round 12

Post by Juventino »

Bologna - Cesena
Catania - Chievo
Fiorentina - Milan
Genoa - Novara
Inter - Cagliari
Juventus - Palermo
Napoli - Lazio
Parma - Udinese
Roma - Lecce
Siena - Atalanta

On Rai:
Inter v Cagliari (Sunday 2:30am Adelaide time)
Napoli v Lazio (Sunday 6:15am)
Bologna v Cesena (Sunday 10pm)
Juventus v Palermo (Monday 12:30am)
Roma v Lecce (Monday 6:15am)

Tough debuts for Delio Rossi and Davide Ballardini against the Milan clubs. If Napoli v Lazio is half the game it was last season we will have a cracker on our hands.

Thank God Napoli is at home.
Lazio playing well and on great form at moment, if it was played at the Stadio Olimpico, the laziale would take the 3 points!
I hope Napoli gets atleast a point, hopefully snatch a win

if the game is similar to last year, hopefully we get the win as well!

Jesus... Napoli is a Champions League club, playing at home with almost a full squad, and you expect them to snatch a win? Go talk about ManU, or that dirty cheating, diving cunt your username is after. Serie A is not your strong point.

If Lazio get a draw, I will be satisfied. No Mauri and no Dias (has been our best defender this term). Will rely a lot on Hernanes through the middle.

Really wanting Palermo to snatch a draw.

Hernanes is a doubt apparently and Klose has picked up an injury with Germany.

I hope both teams have a full squad so we can see where we are at.

Easy on the Maradona stuff mate, you know he's the best player to grace the league.

They haven't scored away from home yet, let alone grab any points. Good test of our character though, after a few weeks of no games and considering this is the type of match last season where Palermo would score their first away from home...and another...and another.

even though your having a go at D.A.M. - your still having a go at the Great Diego - so please thats not necessary

the only thing im worried about is Lazio's amazing away form this season...gonna be a tough game, again I expect a lot of goals...thinking a draw with napoli having one eye on tuesday

Can't wait for this one, so long without a game to watch.
Many Juve boys getting together for this match.

My father inlaw just returned from Italy with a Napoli strip each for my kids.
The response was enough to make me shed a tear. Thumbs down and booing. My son started to chant Juve! Juve!.
Not bad for a 4 year old.

Maradona was a cheat, no denying that.

No Hernanes and no Klose and I can't see our good away form continuing.

Ok I'll bite and state the obvious - handball vs England. Drug addict which in my opinion certainly not performance enhancing.

That aside, the greatest player to play in Serie A at a time when it was almost impossible for a forward to get a kick. Watch interviews with Maldini - they ask him the question, greatest player he has seen or played against he says Diego everyday of the week.

When people that well respected say things like that you sit up and take notice. I distinctly remember Baresi and Bergomi saying the same.

Was Giorgio Chinaglia an Angel??? I know he was voted your greatest ever player in your Centenary year, but certainly corrupt.

There were more handball goals than just that. But anyway, Maradona was the greatest, of that there is no doubt.

Where did I say Maradona wasn't one of the best ever?

Does not change the fact he was a cheat. Handball goals and he tested positive for PED's. Anyone who takes PED's is a lowlife scum. To get a positive test for PED's you need to be blatantly reckless, which Maradona obviously was, so it makes you wonder how many times he got away with it when he was being careful with his PED use?

I am no hypocrit, Chinaglia did many things wrong off on the pitch, but he never took PED's while playing.

Agree with you about USA 94.

All the geniuses, or most of them are flawed, Diego a little more than others. With that comes theatre.

2.43 mins is one of my great memories as a kid.

Its a shame such a talent needed to try and cheat in the end. Would love him if won my club two championships in any case.

I am looking for another Rocchi double this week :|

On the subject of Maradona, I just saw an interesting stat from OptaJoe:
7 - Diego Maradona has been penalised for more handballs than any other player in World Cup finals since 1966.

Viola at home to Milan. New coach wouldnt have had time to integrate system of play yet. Can't see it ending well. Be lucky to get a point, even if it is at home. Hopefully Jovetic fires.

This might be a stupid question but since there is no Serie A on One HD/ESPN/Setanta how are you guys watching the matches? Are they all on RAI or do they only show select matches?

Rai show five matches per week (two Saturday, lunch Sunday, one main game Sunday and the Sunday night match), or there is streaming. Rai's coverage is good, the picture and audio not so much.

Inter 2-1 Cagliari
Napoli 0-0 Lazio
Fiorentina 0-0 Milan

Inter hit the woodwork twice then benefited from an offside goal, scored by Motta. Coutinho doubled the advantage shortly after, but Larrivey pulled one back late on.

Marchetti in great form for Lazio to deny Napoli, while Fiorentina also held a rampant Milan, who were wrongly denied a goal.

Very good performance against what has been a bogey side in recent seasons. The two lines of M-V-P working brilliantly yet again and three lovely goals were scored. I'm glad Quagliarella got a run, although I would rather have seen Elia than Pazienza.

I would not have (er, I didn't in fact) tipped Cesena to beat Bologna away, nor Chievo at Catania. Catania missed a penalty to make it 1-1, then Chievo went up and made it 2-0 to kill the match. Novara fell just short again, conceding in the 87th minute to a well taken Veloso goal.
