U20 Final

Post by jimmy2014 »

Johnny Yull
Can't take corners, cross, pass (unless it's backwards like an u15 playing seniors), can't shoot, dribble. Or anything. A classic example of the veart coaching selection quality.

Taure - diving dud, but they get paid by Daniel elder, just like dukuly and whatever it takes from Daniel in a league or npl.

Coaching changes phenomenally clueless, except dragging Yull, oh wait, he didn't.

Maybe they got the wrong Trevor Morgan?

But they won a coin toss.

Nope. Taking penalties is still a skill and takes nerves of steel. You would probably sh*t your shorts.

Good anticipation and save by Hall on the $trillionaire Saudi final penalty.

Congrats Young Strayans 🇦🇺 and the Adelaide contingent in the Squad!

I'm probably missing something here, or you've been smoking something, but what does Elder have to do with the U20s final?

What say you, jimmy2014? Would you sh*t your shorts taking a deciding penalty? Or show nerves of steel and give the goalie the eye?

penalties should only be taken by players who play the 'false 9' position.....

Oh Mega, this cynicism is getting tiresome. How many times do you have to be given a history lesson on the number of national teams and club teams who have had successes playing with a deep-lying centre forward?

No probs, Megabonus.

National Teams: Uruguay 🇺🇾 , Hungary 🇭🇺 (winners 6-3 @ Wembley, 7-1 in Budapest with Hidgetkuti the false 9), Austria 🇦🇹 with Sindelar, Netherlands 🇳🇱 with Cruyff, USSR with Blokhin & Shengelia out wide and any number of midfielders rotating through the false 9 position, Czech Republic 🇨🇿, Argentina 🇦🇷 with Kempes, then later Messi, Spain 🇪🇸 with Fabregas.

Clubs: Dynamo Kiev, Barcelona with Pep in charge, Ajax with player Cruyff, Liverpool with player Firmino, Arsenal with player Bergkamp, Roma with player Totti, Real Madrid with player Di Stefano.

Local: two SAASL teams becoming champions and one SAASL side a runner-up, all of those 3 playing with a false 9, one third division SAASL team knocking then Federation side Modbury out of the Fed Cup.

School: little Primary School Athelstone going all the way to a SAPSASA Year 7 CUP FINAL with a false 9.

High School: Norwood High Year 12 Team undefeated for the whole season playing with a false 9.

Hope this list suffices, Megabonus. Why, even your fellow cynic Cyril would have to admit his Kane would occasionally drop very deep into midfield as a sort of false 9 too.

I think it may have been 2005. In year 2006 they beat Adelaide High School in the Cup Final at Hindmarsh Stadium.

Wonderful mixture of youths with Cypriot 🇨🇾, Egyptian 🇪🇬, Greek 🇬🇷, Italian 🇮🇹, Chinese 🇨🇳, Anglo-Aussie 🇦🇺 and Sudanese 🇸🇩 heritages. (The Sudanese lad with a particularly harrowing experience as a Coptic Christian escaping persecution).

These players accepted the false 9 tactic and totally dominated the midfield and blended beautifully. At one game when they were thrashing Unley High away with a perfection-seeking 90% possession rate, they even earned high praise from doctor/lawyer parents of the opposition who were incredulous that only two Norwood youths played for a Club.

The false 9 was the vice-captain, some relative called James M.

Shit players, shit coaches, shit FSA, shit referees (at least you have some experience as you previously were one ;-) ) . Is that the reason you retired so 'early'? Anything to be positive about jimmy?

If you're looking for perfection, please don't look in the frigging mirror.

Your negative post is yet another 'classic example' of you being you!

Sorry for the late reply, This mature-age forumite has been recovering from illness.

Firstly, you sarcastically called me ‘Mr Historian’. You said there were 4 Clubs & 1 National Team that you could recall playing with a false 9. I named 7 Clubs and 8 National Teams that successfully did so.

Secondly, you offensively say that I am speaking from my ‘golo’ (backside). Where did I say that Norwood High School were state champions? They played in a Saturday morning inter High School competition and went through that season undefeated. They were drawn on 7 different National heritages, including Italian, and blended successfully to form that wonderful team.

ahhhhhhh, the Saturday morning inter High School competition featuring powerhouse schools like MHS, Glenunga Int, Charles Campbell, UHS, Birdwood HS and Heathfield........yes, the false 9 wouldve dominated against them....

Kosta....lie down, have yourself a frappe and dont stress....

Nope, wrong again Mega. I relied on watching them down the years, admiring them and reading about them.

As for your shameful put-down of those schools in that Saturday morning comp, you forgot to add the likes of Unley, Blackwood and St Michael’s. Why put down those athletic enthusiastic youths? It doesn’t matter what level the comp was/is, I thought we were discussing the merits or otherwise of playing with a false 9. Norwood High used that style and remained undefeated for the season.

Next you’ll put down the primary school kids and their schools that Athelstone Primary School beat using a false 9 all along the way to making the SAPSASA Final.

Finally, life is short. We all should wonder sometimes if it is worth arguing with strangers on the ‘net.
