Re: Suggestions for improvement of refereeing standards.
...... Just because were amatuers does not mean we cant implement proffesional approaches to our game. keep the suggestions coming. From little things big things grow. I know name changes should be treated with caution but don't you think the title of our competition is now outdated? The term ...

Re: Suggestions for improvement of refereeing standards.
I agree that money is not the answer... people give their time to do it because of their passion for the game. There should be, however, a better renumeration than what is being given out. A referee doing Div 1 gets $85. Considering that he has to be there 45 minutes before a game, is usually there ...

Re: question
No I don't think so. I think the SAASL doesn't recognize dual registration. With the FFSA refusing to talk to the SAASL it could be easier to play for both competitions. The SAASL doesn't recognize dual registration but if they tried to check with the FFSA on the eligibility of a player they will ...

Re: Referees
I'm wanting to get some decent, mature and fit referees in the league. Im trying to find out why we have low ref numbers by discussing some of these issues. Why do we have an handful of older middle aged blokes and a handful of under 15's? Are we going to have enough referees next year? Considering ...

Re: Referees
In regard to reder's post... There are some issues regarding the Amatuer League Referees association that need ironing out. There was one person last season, who was a qualified referee with the federation and wanted to offer his services. He already had a uniform, but the association wanted to ...

Re: SAASL Meeting, did anyone go, what happened ?
SAASRA's primary objective is to service the grass roots level of participation in the wonderful game. The Association has a web site at http://saasra.wikispaces.com/. There are references in the Member Guide and the Constitution sections in regard to the refereeing operations of the Association ...

Re: FFSA league
It is the FFA's responsibilty..... by pure chance Les Murray has today posted an assessment of the state of the game. http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/the-state-of-the-game-part-1-142819/ In his first section on 'Community Standing' he states..... A transition to credible management, under the ...

Re: Important SAASL Meetings Coming Up
In regard to suggestions for the SAASL... like many other organizations, they do some things well and some things not so well. Unfortunately, because they invest very little resources in promoting the good things about the competition, they are suffering from an image problem. I see lots of great ...

Re: FFSA league
Sorry swannsong.... will slow down my typing!!!! Actually... the other point worth raising is that the term 'Amateur' really has little relevance in the 21st Century. Back when the SAASL was formed, there was probably still a distinction between amateur and prefessional status in every sport ...

Re: FFSA league
Power04 stated... "There is a major problem at the moment. What do you think, no amateur clubs are paying players????? You think my boy, isn't suffering just because I play amateurs, at least in the FFSA, they may not be financially viable, but there priorities are in the right place (juniors). What ...

Re: FFSA league
(Sorry if this post appears twice... the first one submitted seems to have disappeared) Bodo is right.... some decisions can't be made too hastily because all the stakeholders need to provide their evidence before a ruling can be made. Every sporting body makes rulings which appear unjust or take a ...

Re: FFSA league
Oh .... I forgot to say that it's not just about the politics with the FFSA - it's about the money . And SA is not alone.... Craig Foster puts it so well in his recent article... http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/blogs/craigfoster/greed-poisons-the-game-138801/ And today, Les Murray posted an ...

Re: FFSA league
Lozza is right... all referee associations are understaffed. To address the gaps in ALL the referee bodies, the Amatuer referees body has been trying for months and months to negotiate with the FFSA refs to stay as separate bodies but have dual registration of members. The plan proposed by the ...
