Re: State League 2025
2025 should be a positive WSL season for a few reasons: Consolidation to 8 teams will heighten the quality and make scorelines closer No new teams admitted for the first time since 2021 All teams have a reasonable track record in the comp now (Jags, Jets, Cove, Vista, South - 5, Grove - 4, Sturt ...

Re: 2025 Season
Thank you to everyone for their respectful replies and differing perspectives. Many valid points. We can all agree to disagree because what we have all been discussing will continue to happen. There are very good clubs stuck in mid to lower table that are running on the goodwill of many people ...

Re: 2025 Season
I disagree, respectfully. I’ve seen enough from the past 5-10 years to suggest that it’s unlikely a player from west or comets ressies make the seniors. How many have gone from ressie level and actually solidified a spot? Look at comets and west for example. Their ressieshave been okay of late, but ...

Re: 2025 Season
There seems to be a lot of movement away from the clubs that finished near the bottom. It may be because of a number of reasons:
- change of coach
- lack of clear vision / new signings
- sick of continual underperformance

Finals + Promotion/Relegation
The pointy end of the season has come around quickly, and the first round of season-defining games kicked off yesterday. Promotion/Relegation Playoff Adelaide University 2 Modbury Vista 0 There was a lot of chatter about the expectation of this game being a lot closer than last year's 8-0 result ...

Re: Adelaide Utd 2023-24 a nightmare season
The SASI coach Kev M took control of the NSL team. The point here is that there was consistency with the team and the coaching and which then brings familiarity and consistency with results. The core team played and training together all year. SASI was funded by the State Govt with contributions ...

Re: Women's A League and Payment
The minimum ALW salaryis $25,000 in 2023/24. The number of rounds is 22. The contract length is 35 weeks. Therefore, on a game-weighted basis, it is $1,136. On a contracted weekly basis, it is $714. On an hourly basis, you would have to consult the club given training load varies based on: number of ...

Re: Adelaide Utd 2022-23 a season to forget
At the risk of stating the obvious, there's a huge leap between WNPL and mini Matildas, and the ALW. With all due respect, and Miley is doing very well for 15, she is inexperienced at ALW level. I don't agree with all of the Stenta sledging that goes on in this thread- but I agree that this ...

Re: Adelaide Utd 2022-23 a season to forget
Just read Miley Grigg 'the youngest Adelaide United debutant' & congratulations to her but you have to ask 'Why Stenta'. This game was (0 - 1) still in the balance & you introduce a youngster(who appears is still learning the offside rule)at such a critical time yet an experienced goalscorer like ...

Re: Adelaide Utd 2022-23 a season to forget
Comments from a number of ALW coaches recently (not Adrian) around the fact that a 5 week pre-season (which included an international camp for U20s and U23s within it) and a 2 week international break 7 days after the season kicked off have contributed to a large number of injuries experienced ...

AUFC 2023/24
On the eve of the new ALW season, it's pleasing to see so many South Australians either return to the squad, or be called up for the first time. A fair few of scholarships but an opportunity nevertheless. 15 out of 25 by my count. Returning Emily Condon (Inter) Isabel Hodgson (City) Dylan Holmes ...

Re: Coaches goings and goings for Season 2024
WNPL hub made a good start, but can others help complete the list? For example, wasn’t Trimboli at Birks (men)? As I said, I listed women's roles only. If we are to include men, Goddard has been involved at both Sturt and Birkalla, Trimboli and Birkalla, Olympic and Modbury, Monsegnior at South A ...

Re: Coaches goings and goings for Season 2024
There will be the usual merry go round of the same coaches just moving to different jobs, you do wonder if any younger coaches will ever be given an opportunity instead of recycling the same guys over and over again. look through the list of last years coaching groups and see how many clubs each ...

Re: Season 2023.
Good write up. Let’s hope Vista and Sturt don’t play for a draw. Another poster stated that Comets aren’t champions unless they win the finals series. And that is the prevailing attitude. It’s a shame that the true champions are considered “minor”. It takes more work to win the league than to win a ...

It's been awfully quiet around these parts...so here's an attempt to update ahead of tomorrow's kickoff. I'll attempt a WSL update tomorrow... WNPL 2023 PREVIEW Based on social media posts and pre-season cup teamlists, let's have a look at the ins and outs in the WNPL and WSL! West Adelaide Last ...
