Re: Referees
So will I be frowned upon for offering the referee some 'top up cash' before the game? I was trying to figure this out myself. I personally wouldn't have a problems with it, and we all know it would be done with the best intentions. But... it could put the refs in an awkward position regarding ...

Re: Referees
I've just seen what refs are going to get for a SAASL game, and i'm shocked. That reduction in payment probably saves every player about $10 over a shortened season. 2 coffees. over 3 months. Are we really all that tight? I get that some are doing it tough, and some say the refs should be doing it ...

Re: Refs wearing black
Heard this morning that the referees are wearing black this year (shorts and socks) and will make any team wearing black change! Has anyone else heard this?? They do this every couple of years. Everyone gets shouty on both sides, especially GIAE ;), sanity eventually prevails, and the league or ...

Re: Rule Interpretation
At yesterdays game I heard a story about a referee running into a player then penalising the player with a free kick to the opposition? Is this correct The referee deemed there was intentional contact between two players prior to himself being knocked over (accidentally as he put it) and as a ...

Re: Rule Interpretation
Sounds like he should have played on.
If he had to stop the game (if he was unable to ref for a moment or two, or if he thought it was worthy of dishing out a card), I reckon he should have restarted with a drop ball.

Re: looking to join a club close to the cbd
Its a forum - learn to accept someone else view. As for what club, it is of no interest. I've played vs both clubs on multiple occasions with different teams during my playing time. In all occasions, there has always been a shiraz of an event in at least one of the grades. I can recall coaches ...

Re: How to improve the SAASL in 2017 and beyond
You could run the referee's after reading this comment. No thats not what Im saying Is if they are not fit, cant keep up with play, have poor eyesight or are just incompetent I don't think they should be abused, they should not be refereeing. Could be said about a lot of the players in our leagues.

Re: Is SAASL a shambles
Supporters, players, officials need to understand referees are there to help with the game. Yes they are paid. Not very much and do a good job. Not always getting decisions right. Yet there is too much abuse. No official goes out there to ruin a teams season. They make some mistakes as we all do. I ...

Re: Time for 3 Divs of 12 on Saturday?
All valid points to an extent, but outweighed by the reality that there will be fewer clubs on Saturday (in the absence of an FFSA SAASL merger), necessitating fewer leagues with more teams per league. Plenty of solutions that don't necessarily require 12 teams for all. While almost everyone likes ...

Re: Saturday div1 predictions
My pre final run-in predictions: BOSA looking likely to wrap it up, especially with their last 3 games being against bottom half sides. Pthoey. Although I'd love it, love it, if they drop points. Stirling gone, they are tenacious little f'ers, but too much to do against top opposition, even with 2 ...

Yeah, online results killed the forums. Where people would have come on here, posting and looking for results, had a dig at opposition, and started some banter for good the hell of it, they now just keep an eye on results vault.
Pity.

Personally, i think in amateur football, if you need a stretcher for a broken bone to get off the ground, you probably shouldn't be moved. Leave it for the professionals. "Basics of player safety" isn't having a bunch of amateur wannabe medics move a seriously injured player. But having said that ...
