Re: 2025 Season
Lots of good commentary. All have merit. The one I like relates to the two top teams and how they are building top down. Agreed. Build it and they will come good quote). A strong peering WNPL will attract players, good coaches, sponsors, etc. The ones focusing predominantly on building their bases ...

Re: Croydon
The difficulty is not every player in that 20yio bracket wants to change club.
Many just want to play with their friends.
That's a big difference between the men's and women's leagues.
No perfect solution.

Re: Croydon
What would the result of this be in SA? How big should WNPL squads be and if you don't get selected to play WNPL or need to top up game time do players drop to D1 should the club have them? D1 just becomes your reserves, but by a different name. Currently the gap between Reserves and WNPL is massive ...

It was always going to be an increase in miniroos.
WSL Reserves is positive, but we need to wait to see the impact.

Re: Coaches goings and goings for Season 2024
I believe the new player is coming as she's friends with the current player who's staying at Inter.
Haruna only ended up at Inter for the same reason as Comets already had two internationals on PPS..
She's friends with the sisters at Comets.
Worked out well for Inter.

Re: Coaches goings and goings for Season 2024
Haruna couldn't play for Inter next season for one reason.
Inter have another Japanese striker coming.
That would of meant three internationals and you can only list two on the PPS.
She was always leaving.

Trimboli, coached Modbury Jets Div 2 a few years back while coaching in the men's game.
He stepped in as his daughter was playing.
This is his first senior gig in the Women's game.

Re: Adelaide Uni - Clean Sweep of Junior Cup Finals
What a year for our youth program. Our U13 reds, U15 reds and U17 Reds have all won league and Cup doubles. U15 Blues and U15 Purple have also won their leagues. U13 Blue and U17 Blue have finished second. Massive season for the Uni juniors. Reserves Grand Final winners, a young squad with so many ...

Re: Season 2023.
NTC were great and were unlucky not to beat Comets in normal time. NTC were the better side for me. The youngsters stood tall when it mattered and deal very well with the pressures of a penalty shootout. This group have grown so much under the leadership of Michele and its a real credit to him and ...

Re: WNPL / WSL Cup
A stand alone Reserves Cup adds value as it places these players in pressure games. Great for player development, but playing WNPL teams can have the opposite effect. I try to use a player development mentality when considering this comp. Boys have a stand a lone Reserves comp. Great for them, even ...

Re: WNPL and State sports Park
Might be your vie which I will not dispute. I am certain that clubs will be "encouraged" to make use of their home grounds in lieu of ServiceFM stadium. Is the natural pitch. Not a better venue for two concurrent games. Teams playing the far pitch cross over the first pitch to get there. Then there ...

Re: WNPL and State sports Park
I see it differently. Being at different venues has allowed some clubs to start hosting post match meals with the teams they've played. I feel this social interaction has been far better the simply seeing people walk past pre/post game. Clubs can build their culture, engage sponsors, but in its ...

Metro are vastly different as they lock the top gate and only have 1 entry point for cars and spectators. Vista you can walk to the pitches edge from the road Never known them to lock the top gate, not the side fence either. The only road at Vista you can walk to would put you "pitch side" at Pitch ...

Re: WNPL and State sports Park

Its an important discussion that much needed for players to be rewarded for their efforts.
It may be enough for some to stay in the game and hopefully go onto possibly play at a higher level.

I only know one model a club uses.
They pay every player who makes the match day squad regardless of who they are.
That's why I'm asking.
