It wouldn't work adding an extra round in purely on numbers. In 2012, there are 50 first teams not in Sat Div 3/4/5 Sun Div 3/4/5 and 43 reserve teams. In a round with only Div 1/2 teams (usually 40 teams, 38 in 2012), you need to find 24 (or this year 26) to make it up to 64. So it doesn't work ...
