Re: Alex Chidiac Signs with Melbourne City
Sportsbird, it’s like comparing Liverpool with Leeds United. Some clubs are big and have lots of money to splash around on facilities, coaches and players. Some are small and don’t have the resources. Ask any player born and raised in Leeds who they’d rather play for and there’s no question. You can ...

Re: Adel Utd Coach to be Offered Further Contract Extension
Searching back through the posts this forum, it seems that Sportsbird does not like many (if any) of the previous Adelaide United coaches either. My recollection is that both Paul Pezos and Ross Aloisi came in for some similar criticism....not sure about Dave Edmondson or Mike Barnett but I guess we ...

Re: Cup Round 1
Not too difficult to fix this. Don't fine anyone, just have seeding in the competition so the stronger sides join later. Getting beaten by a big score doesn't help anyone, neither does forfeiting. The oldest Cup competition in the world (FA Cup) starts in August but the Premier League sides don't ...

Re: FFSA Shame -WNPL Competition Relegation
I completely understand the reason for the NTC girls being placed in the State League. But surely a 17 - 1 defeat of Stirling does not help football development for either team.

Re: WNPL
Sportsbird, so we all have the facts, can you please list the criteria or provide a link so we can read them.
This will enable everyone to figure out who may or may not meet the criteria - either now, or in the next 3-4 months
Thank-you

Re: Adelaide United vs Western Sydney
Don't forget players who were in the same age bracket as Ruth Wallace who were part of the Young Matildas set up....Lilly Rydon, Nik Calder, Ashlee Faul.....add in Kathryn Ebbs, Ellie Chapman, Laura Johns. More recently Jess Waterhouse and Ebony Philcox...... Add all of these to the squad you ...

MJ#9 No problem at all. No need to apologise :D Just wanted to offer some support to what you are trying to develop at Fulham. We need a vibrant, healthy and competitive Premier League to provide the platform for South Australian players to graduate to the National and International stage Recent ...

Re: Shambles
Hey mj#9. I think you misquoted me. I certainly did not say anything about Fulham getting favours from the FFSA. In fact I think quite the opposite. The Women's game in SA needs as many high quality coaches in the clubs as possible. If Geoff is coaching at Fulham in addition to his job as Game ...

Re: Shambles
[quote] Chris Goddard coaching club and SASI at once caused a lot of bitterness last year when they picked state teams and did W League trials. People thought he was favouring his players etc .[quote] Don't let facts get in the way of nasty comments will you? My recollection of the 2011 Under 15 ...

Re: Shambles
Agree with you 100% Sad Gal. There is a higher element of the 'social' side of playing in the Women's game at the highest level compared to the Men, which is of course semi-professional. The players move clubs quite frequently for many reasons such as percieved good coaching, likelyhood of success ...

Re: cumberland parents
Caretaker Coach - outrageous, inaccurate and totally unfair comment about CG. I know him and his wife Carol well. They have both worked hard for the Women's game in SA for many years at Cumberland, State and SASI. I have heard that they are both now moving away from the game and I'm not surprised if ...

Canberra United will have a distinctly European flavour when it takes to the field for the coming W-League season. Former Czech Republic international Jitka Klimkova will be United's new coach following Ray Junna's resignation because of work commitments. Capital Football will announce the ...

Hillarious......CG has no interest in and is not qualified to coach at AU. Was asked to 'help out' until the appointments are made.

Re: Results 07/08
Don't think they've ever played their 'best' team this season for one reason or another and now with Nic Calder in the USA -it can't happen. Pity really - could have made a competitive Premier League season even closer. Also have some good young players who can compete and always try to play good ...
