Re: Amateur referees poor knowledge of The Laws Of The Game
Spent two nights in hospital after being attacked by spectators. Not once did the league phone me to discuss the incident or how I was.

Re: Amateur referees poor knowledge of The Laws Of The Game
Lots of complaining here but nobody signing up to referee I presume. SAASL has less than perfect quality referees for a number of reasons. 1 - already been made. If it is a low quality game, don't expect a top knotch ref. The good refs are doing the good games and jusging by the complaining about ...

Amateur referees poor knowledge of The Laws Of The Game
Can't believe how poor the knowledge of The Laws Of The Game that Amature Referees have. I am not complaining on interpretation as that is of the opinion of the referee. What I am concerned is the mistakes on point of Law. For example. 1/ Ball has gone out for a goal kick. During stoppage of play a ...

Re: DC findings
As a past referee, the referee stuffed up. Then why punish the club for a referees mistake. As a referee I hated going to the club rooms after a game. Has the referee in question been punished by the referees association.

I had the pleasure of coaching Leon the last 3 seasons and involved with his progress towards his SAASRA Level 2. When he is on the park he gives his best. he is fair and honest,
He is going to make a good referee.

Re: Interchange?
Competition rules - no interchange. 3 substitutions from a maximum 5 name subs.
Official referees apply substitution. But like most clubs who use club referees make their own rules and have interchange.

Re: "Playing the ball on the ground"
Laws of the game, referee to punish the more serious offence when two offences occurred at the same time.
Offence punishable by a direct free kick is more serious than a offence punishable by indirect free kick.

Re: "Playing the ball on the ground"
There is nothing wrong about a player trapping the ball on the ground and keeping it trapped as long as he wants. There can be two outcomes when the player who trapped the ball is challenged. 1/ When an another player tries to play the ball. The offence is dangerous play committed by the. Player ...

Nothing worse than finishing the game and having no area away from players, coaches , club officials and spectators to do your paperwork without them harassing you. As for finning or deducting points from clubs, that is for clubs ...

Re: Referees
Recruiting is not the solution. The big problem is retention of referees. That is due to lack of safety and respect of referees by club and league. To solve some of the issues the league needs to. 1/ Get tough with clubs who don't comply to match day regulations. Sure all teams record stewards names ...

Re: Sunday Results - Rd 1 (Sun 19th April)
Unless SAASL gets tough with clubs providing a safe enviroment for match officials you will find more referees quitting. After refereeing Salisbury Villa last season and nothing has changed about their behaviour I decided my safety is more important than a game of football. Therefore decided not to ...

Agree with the above post. The wrong people are running tge referee. Arrogant and there only for their own interest.
As for assessors, most of the assessors these days have not officiated in any top level games. Handed out like lollipops.

LOTG if both keepers tops clash with each other and or with the referee, and they keepers don't have a change of top. What made my decision to retire from refereeing for ever was the constant abuse towards us referees and pointing the blame on referees for mistakes players make. The final straw was the vipers coach abusing me for cautioning his player for persistent encroachment at a corner kick. Corner kick ...

Re: Brazil V Croatia
Neymar shouldn't have been on the park to score 1st goal. Why wasn't he sent off for he elbow. Replay clearly showed eyes was on the opponent and not the ball and there was a deliberate movement (strike)of the elbow into the Croatians players face. Clearly a red card.
