Re: Bring on the Asian Cup!
Yeah, he signed a one-year-deal at the end of the last season for Basel. My brother and I were talking about Chippers the other day and he told me that Chippers is the most-winning player in Basel's 100-odd year history. I knew he'd played the fourth or fifth most caps for them, but didn't know he'd ...

Re: Bring on the Asian Cup!
Oh really?
I read an article a few weeks before the World Cup started and Chipperfield was suggesting he wanted to play on for a while after the WC, I guess he is more than getting on a bit though.
Well, he'll always be a remembered as a Wollongong, Basel and Socceroos legend.

Bring on the Asian Cup!
The Asian Cup is only six and a bit months away, and our performances against Ghana and Serbia - at a WC that we went into with several key players severely underdone - prove we are good enough to win it. Of course, Korea Republic and Japan will be tough to beat and there might even be another ...

Re: OFFICIAL: Liverpool and Benitez part ways
Liverpool are forever living off past glories and have unrealistic expectations in the here and now. They are a strong club, but the fact they are still referred to as part of "the big four" irritates me as they haven't won the league title for 20 years, and have finished OUTSIDE the top four on ...

Golden Boot?
Who will win the 2010 Golden Boot Award? I have named my top choice and best outsider. What are your predictions everyone? TOP CHOICE: DAVID VILLA - Since Spain have a strong chance of making the semis and therefore playing seven matches, he is an obvious choice. They should rack up a score against ...

How awkward will it be for Williams going back to Boro... cant say he'd be looked at favourably upon his return. way to go bottle of shiraz up a young kids club career Pim.... Yeah, way out of line for Pim to say that. Re: Vidmar takes Arnold's roles
Australia's loss is Uniteds gain +1 Hopefully hes not in charge of the Asian cup like Arnold was in 2007 I really hope not too, though it could be on the cards since the Asian Cup is only six months after the World Cup and they haven't hired a successor to Pim yet. I think everyone: FFA, the ...

Re: Socceroos V Denmark
How many interchanges can you make in a friendly? It's six, not 11 as someone else suggested. Used to be unlimited up until about seven or eight years ago. I think FIFA changed it not long after Sven Goran Eriksson subbed the entire English team at H/T against Australia in a friendly in 2002 ...

Re: Wizard of Oz or Cowardly Lion
See, that's the problem with this forum sometimes and possibly why it's under censorhip threat. I miss part of Mel Mc's report on Fox news and I ask a genuine question about whether the Kiwi, Tim Brown will miss the World Cup because of injury sustained against Australia, and I get abused by the ...

Ghana are the 2nd best team in Africa, I dont know why people think Australia will get a result, Aust only just managed to get a win vs the Oceania winner Actually, Ghana are the BEST African team at the WC, Egypt didnt make it Well, let's see. P W D L GF GA GD PTS Australia 3 0 0 3 0 ? ? 0 Really hate to say it and hope I'm wrong, but more than likely right! I guess that's a possibility of happening, but then again so is Australia topping the group. I think they will be right in it against Ghana, of course they could still lose against ...

Re: Regarding Harry
I think its seriously risky to leave out McDonald and rely on Kewell as a striker. Not so much taking anything away from Kewell or any of the other strikers. I dont feel it necessary to bag the other strikers like Holman in the process of saying McDonald should be on the plane. In a lot of the ...

Kewell and Emerton both sat out the first proprer training session last night our time.

Re: Regarding Harry
My bad.......I forgot he came off the bench against Brazil for 30 minutes. But he still wasn't up to starting all three group games, and I doubt he will this time around either. I think he has to play 90 minutes against Ghana, which means maybe not starting him against Germany.

The "kiwi that Cahill hurt" was Leo Bertos you moron, and he's fine.
Brown has a shoulder injury that he carried into the game. Bad luck to him if it's true he will be out of the WC, but no Australian is to blame.

Regarding Harry
Given that Harry Kewell is still waiting for an all-clear to play after almost six months on the sidelines (apart from a measly two minute stint for Galatasaray some weeks back), it appears that he is little or no chance of getting through three intense group matches at the World Cup, especially ...

Re: Will the Socceroos get embarrassed at the World Cup?
I agree with a lot of you that FAR too much is being read into the other night. No Kewell, no Emo, no Wilkshire, no Chippers, Bresc and Culina had their first runs in ages, plus the result of this game meant more to NZ than it did to Aus. And remember that they looked ordinary in all three of the ...

is not news that macca cant perform for australia. how many games is it now? its too big a risk to 'hope' he performs in the world cup. Do you - and while I'm at it, does Pim - actually watch McDonald play in this formation, or do you just look at the scorecard at the end of the match to see if he ...
