Re: Adelaide Utd 2023-24 a nightmare season
The global women's football landscape is changing which is making it harder to attract quality international players to the A-League. It's not just Adelaide United not wanting or being able to commit greater resources (although that's certainly part of the problem). The ALW season has gotten longer ...

Re: Croydon
I understand there are huge gaps in State League and that a reserves competition at that level is barely sustainable. But the WNPL is more competitive than it's been in awhile, imo. I know Westies are top of the table, but these last four games will see them more vulnerable and I think any team can ...

Fencing at Comets' home ground
Please Everyone- Be sure to sign the petition at Change.org in support of Adelaide Comets' effort to fence their ground so they can play home NPL and WNPL fixtures. The Council is being difficult. Please sign. https://www.change.org/p/approval-for-acfc-to-erect-a-1-1m-pitch-perimeter-fence-at-ellis ...

Re: Adelaide Utd 2022-23 a season to forget
At the risk of stating the obvious, there's a huge leap between WNPL and mini Matildas, and the ALW. With all due respect, and Miley is doing very well for 15, she is inexperienced at ALW level. I don't agree with all of the Stenta sledging that goes on in this thread- but I agree that this ...

Re: Coaches goings and goings for Season 2024
The tail wags the dog in womens football. Who would coach women - it’s a bottle of shiraz nightmare 😆 That's not sexist at all... :???: Could it be, perhaps, that in some cases women are given substandard resources and when they complain they are labeled as difficult? In at least one case mentioned ...

I also think that people underestimate the effects of chronic underfunding. It's not just about how much players are being paid, it's what resources are being allocated to back room support staff- trainers, Physios, S and C staff....if you can't keep your players on the park, especially when you ...

Yes, it wasn't a good weekend for them. Having a player sent off certainly didn't help. It was only 1-0 at half time.

Re: Season 2023.
It could be that Cote will help Flinders just stay up, which I suspect was the plan. Having watched the game on Saturday, whether Cote can score will depend on how often defences are caught napping (as was the case Saturday) when the long ball comes. The quality of Saturday's game was pretty average ...

Re: Player Transfer.
From the Competition Rules and Regulations... Clauses 3 and 5 most relevant. I don't know the exact dates of the transfer windows, but one just closed last week. Not sure there is another this season. They are pretty strict about it. But I'm sure BamBam has you all sorted.... ;-) "(3) Players that ...

Re: WNPL / WSL Cup
And it’s a different landscape really. With the aleague season getting longer, closer to fully professional, this could be the last year that you see any of those girls play WNPL anywhere at all. As it is most of them won’t play past early August. Preseason will start for ALeague in early September. ...

Re: WNPL / WSL Cup
Maybe more accurate to say that the standard in the NSW WNPL is better than the WNPLSA, which has fallen across the board imo. Not sure City is the only example. And it’s just Zoe Tolland and Kate Bowler really. And good on them. Kate in particular is really getting a look in at national level. Well ...

Re: Season 2023.
Maria Rojas back this time with the highest bidder being Flinders United outmatching two other clubs. Given Comets and Inter have two visa players already I'm going to assume that was City and probably Birkalla. No problem with her going for the most money, as long as she admits it. City already ...

Re: WNPL / WSL Cup
Players can always move up- that is, if they've played reserves they can play prems later on in the cup. Once they've played prems in the cup, however, they can't then later move back down and play reserves... I don't know about that, what you said use to be allowed, but I was talking to a wnpl ...

According to the table, Fulham plays off against 2nd place State League team- Birks ended up 8th and so automatically stay up...Modbury sadly relegated- I feel of the three teams Modbury played the best all season and gave many better teams a run for their money. But that's football I guess.

I was at the game- didn't seem to be an issue, ref did a good job IMO. But now that you mention it, that does seem like a lot for one game. But I don't think anyone thought much of it at the time.

I'm curious, Sad Gal- do you know which clubs still charge their prems players fees? And how much are they charging? For some reason I've just assumed that at the minimum, players don't have to pay fees, even if they're not being paid to play
